It’s finally done, well most of it — after hours of stressful bug fixes, one “start over” and trying to balance the butchering of the database today (it was a mistake, and it only took 2 hours to fix! =) ), we’re ready to launch this new feature.

What it is:
Visiting http://www.rshumor.net/featured will give you three (soon to be four) category options, two are related to votes, the third is the most interesting. It is a compilation of who submits the most pictures, basically. The files are “cached” (saved) so they don’t update instantly, I may switch it a little bit, but right now they’re accurate to 24 hours, or unless a button is pressed by Linda or I.

The significance:
A lot of times I get messages in game, and most people don’t even know it’s me saying how much they like my pictures, and I know from being told by at least one other person, that they get a lot of in-game messages to. This allows you to view the pictures of the most active contributors (you can find everyone else simply by searching). Clicking on their name will take you to a “Search” result page for them (not the new URLs — I know, spiffy, huh?).

We’re still trying to hammer out an update after todays near fatal oopsie on my part, but it did get fixed, so there isn’t too much harm done. Remember kids, always backup your databases! On top of this we’re working on getting the database records up to date still, we may consider taking on a volunteer or two, but the functionality for that simply isn’t ready yet so we’re not sure.

Edit: Oh, and there are some changes to the site that you may notice, the sidebar has been a little reorganized, as have the links on the top. You may start to see more rshumor.net/link links as opposed to rshumor.net/page.php?asdasd=asdasd (It’s just prettier, nothing has really changed). Mod_Rewrite is a blessing.
