Just wanted to write a quick note to explain the downtime which (up until now) may seem as random and unnecessary.

What happened was a combination of things, namely a nerfed O.S upgrade which somehow corrupted the boot sector of the server. Once upgrades were complete and the server was restarted, it said “Not on your life” and went to sleep.

Because of some problems at the data center that were happening (namely staff being out due to H1N1 [thankfully it hasn't been found to be transmitable to computers yet ]), the server was not able to be brought up as was expected when a remote reboot switch was unable to do the job.

After a day or two of errors and then all out failure, I reached out to host a page on one of our backup servers explaining that RSHumor/GEUpdate were NOT “vanishing”, and were simply the victim of a *nix disaster.
Back in November when we were experiencing the random weekend service outages (which are now fully resolved), we had been meaning to relocate the server to Colorado to correspond to the relocation of our primary D.C contact (technician). So, the primary reason for the delay was that the server was being shipped to Colorado so that the boot sector could be restored and brought back up on new IP addresses.

At present, some functionality might not be working, but I’m working on bringing everything back up as quick as possible. GEUpate.com has been fully restored and is not experiencing any more problems.

Thankfully I’m able to sleep at night now with everything working again. We sincerely apologize for the downtime and thank all of you for your confidence in RSHumor.Net / GEUpdate.com, and there is an update in the works as we speak to make up for the problems caused.

Sorry for the slowness that is being experienced right now, I’m currently installing some MUCH needed Operating System upgrades, so the server is working overtime at the moment. However, it’s pretty late so hopefully interference is minimal and (even more hopefully) everything will be finished sooon!

Wow!

What an amazing year it’s been…even though things got kind of rough near the end with orchestrating updates and all 2009 was an amazing year, and it’s totally exciting to welcome in a new decade with you all.

Linda and I’ve made a New Years Resolution (so to speak) to make sure updates get done more frequently, so instead of spending time working on RSHumor 3.0 (as was origionally planned this month). I think it’s more important to get caught up on all the amazing pictures that all of you have been submitting and want to see on the site…Soooo, this was meant to be a holiday present of sorts, but it got delayed as some new technology had to be written to allow this to happen, and for those of you around the site earlier this evening, you probably saw a huge technical failure when it was first rolled out, but, it was fixed, and all is beyond well now. This means…

916 new images added to RSHumor!

I know there is something like 700 more awaiting review (which once reviewed they are removed from that count, but not necessarily put on the site, so these images were “hidden” so to speak – but the goal is to catch up entirely within the next week or two.

Yes, this is the largest update in RSHumor history, and there is quite a few “lol” pictures to be seen .

All pictures added are between IDs: 21248 – 23124

Sorry it’s been so long, I moved and then my computer started dying.. but I am back – with a new computer too! I tackled the heap of images and got through 1/4 of what I had waiting, lord knows there’s even more waiting for me but this is a start.

So I give you 130 new images. Strange that this should be almost the same number as last time; in fact, I thought it was the same number!

Just wanted to apologize for the downtime we experienced this weekend, it was rather unexpected, and at this point unexplained. We worked with our data center to get the server back up as possible, which was a little difficult considering Travis was out of town all weekend and without computer access to tell what was going on…We are currently investigating the cause of the problem, at this point it is most likely to be attributed to a software malfunction (cause by a new project we’re working on )… No data was lost (yey!) and Linda should have an update very very soon!

More information to follow. I hope you all had an amazing Halloween, and more splendid Holiday adventures heading into the holiday season. We should have an amazing thing coming out for you in January, and I just want to reassure you (all) that RSHumor has not been forgotten, things just appear quiet because a lot is going on behind the magical curtain.

Had to get this update done seeing as how I’ll be moving for the next week or so, not sure when I’ll have my internet all hooked up and such, hopefully won’t be long since I still have uhm.. a lot of images left, but I’m working on them, truly.

This clears out one of my folders though, I know I’ve still got another mountain to go through but it’s a somewhat time consuming process, even with Travis or someone else first viewing the images to narrow them down.

Anyway, there are 129 images in this update.

Image numbers: 408 (I have no idea why, this was a random rejected number lol..); 3535-3613 and then the bulk are 21050-21244.

I can’t remember which my favorite from this bunch was. It may have been 3535 because I would have loved to see their faces when they realized there was a mod standing right next to them with the mute button handy lol.
